My Story
started selling Scentsy in January 2017 because I loved the product; I had bought a warmer several years prior and was hooked. I tend to share a lot about my life—maybe too much information sometimes—but not everyone I talk to about Scentsy knows my whole story. I want to be honest with all of my present and future customers and consultants.
As many of you know, I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. In the spring of 2010, after my mom passed away, I decided it was time to start my weight loss journey. At that time, I weighed 380 lbs. I began going to the YMCA, swimming, biking, using the treadmill, and lifting weights. With determination, I managed to get down to 280 lbs and even completed my first 5k, sponsored by my church.
Fast forward to late 2019. I was working for Amazon and was on my lunch break when I suddenly couldn't catch my breath, and my heart was racing. They called the emergency squad, and when I got to the hospital, I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF) and atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). Because of these conditions, I ended up going on disability.
Throughout all of this, I started and stopped selling Scentsy several times. Then, I reconnected with a former coworker from Oklahoma who was also selling Scentsy. We got to talking, and she encouraged me to start again under her team and to attend the Scentsy Family Reunion (SFR) in Salt Lake City. So, I did. Through Scentsy, I've found a loving and understanding community of Scentsy sisters and brothers.
That same year, I learned I needed heart surgery. However, because I weighed 577 lbs at the time, I was too large for the surgery table. This was a turning point for me. I decided to see a weight loss surgeon and begin the life-changing process to lose weight. I had gastric sleeve surgery on March 27, 2022, which was a significant date for me—not just for the surgery but because it would have been my mom's 68th birthday.
Exactly a year after my gastric sleeve surgery, I had a minor heart procedure called an ablation to treat my A-Fib. This involved destroying a small part of my heart's electrical system to correct the irregular heartbeat.
Now, I’m continuing my weight loss journey, which is a long process. I'm currently down to 355 lbs, working on my diet, and aiming to get off disability and secure a full-time job. Throughout this journey, I have continued to work on my Scentsy business to the best of my ability. I don’t think I would be where I am today in my Scentsy life or personal life without the love and support from my up-line, Cheryl Browder and Bridgette Simon. I thank you for your past and future support.
